Samsung introduced the new enhanced CSP LED devices for outdoor pole lights and other applications

On January 10, 2018, Samsung Electronics recently introduced two new, enhanced CSP LED chip products: the LM101B (1W mid-power LED) and the LH231B (5W large Power LED). Both of these new products feature enhanced CSP technology that provides superior light efficiency and reliability for lighting applications such as spotlights and high bay lights.


Based on Samsung's advanced Fillet-Enhanced-CSP (FEC) technology, the LM101B and LH231B packages form a circle of TiO2 white walls on the surface of the chip that reflect light to the top and act like an EMC bracket in traditional LEDs .

The new device is FEC-designed to provide higher luminous efficiency than previous generations of CSP products. A more focused beam angle helps eliminate mutual interference between adjacent devices and allows new devices to be arranged more closely, giving luminaire designers greater design flexibility.

"A series of Samsung advanced LED device solutions represented by FEC LED products can be applied to various lamp design applications such as 1000 lm - 10000 lm," said Jacob Tarn, executive vice president of Samsung LED Business Unit. LM101B: 1W grade medium power FEC

The LM101B is the most luminous product available in mid-power CSP LEDs on the market today, reaching 200lm / W (Ra80 5000K, 65mA, 25? C). In addition, the LM101B features low thermal resistance (2K / W) and high reliability (0.5W, 105? C, L90> 50,000 hours) and is optimized for lighting applications requiring high efficacy and long life such as spotlights and high bay lights design.

LH231B: 5W high-power FEC

Operating at 2A (up to 6W) and operating at 170 lm / W (Ra70 5000K, 700mA, 85? C), the LH231B is comparable to traditional ceramic-based high-power LEDs with brightness requirements of 5,000 to 10,000 lm high-bay lighting applications can bring superior cost advantages. Based on the Samsung FEC structure, a 120-degree beam angle makes the LH231B suitable for many more outdoor lighting applications such as road lighting and parking lot lighting.
